Headteacher Blog – A Letter from Sam!
Dear Mr Mitchell,
I am writing to advise you to buy the school numerous amounts of new technology which, if used with great care, will lift the roof off our school. Moreover we will become the most famous school in the whole world. We know where you are now Mr Mitchell, we know you are in Bradford learning about new kinds of I.C.T. Our new mission is to learn so much about ICT that we exceed even your amazing skills! One day we want to be able to teach YOU ICT! To achieve this we will need the following equipment…..
- To begin with, normal computers are so colossal we can only fit fifteen in the ICT suite which means that when a class goes in, pupils have to share a computer (because there are thirty children in each class). On the over hand, this problem could be easily solved, and I know how. We could buy numerous amounts of net books – thirty to be exact – which can all fit in the ICT suite, thanks to their miniature size. Some people might think that because net books are so small they are not very good, however (as you and I know) they are one of the greatest computers ever made.
- I think we need to buy some smaller equipment; one of our local high schools has invested in an IPod for every child. This helps them to send homework to school so they don’t have to worry about bringing in paper, and it also contains a map of the school so if anyone gets lost they can find their way back to their class, where ever they are. Furthermore, IPods are easier then getting out a white board and a pen and IPods are harder to lose than pens or white boards. On the IPod there are numerous amounts of maths games which will help to make all our pupils Level 5 mathematicians. Isn’t that what you want, Mr Mitchell?
You know that we want to be the best school at ICT and the only way we can do this is by investing in the best equipment and the best teachers.
These are the footsteps to our destiny (Halimah)!
What do you think Mr Mitchell?
Yours sincerely,
Sam Year 6

This is a great letter Sam! I was talking to a Year 4 teacher who used iPod touches in his classroom and said the children’s work had really improved since he started using them. He said they used them for research (using Safari)and different children had different Apps they used to help them in Numeracy and Literacy. What ideas have you got for how you could use them in class?

Great letter Sam but when you get the net books you won’t want to be in that small ict suite you can take them to your class room or the hall for pe or outside for some great sci and geog work

Wow! What a great letter Sam, I don’t think Mr Mitchell or Mrs Spencer could refuse your request after such a persuasive letter.
